[Az-Geocaching] Best Route

I agree with Brian,

The traffic in north Phoenix to AJ is not worth the wasted miles. I see The
only issues for a tired driver would be the drop into the Salt River and
back up then the drive through Devils Canyon before Superior.. There are a
few caches by restaurants and rest stops along the way.

You'll save miles if you turn south on 77 at Holbrook and take 60 in from
the east. Just another thought.

Richard,

I suggest you stay on I 40 all he way to Flagstaff than take I 17 south to I
60 and then west to AJ. There are a couple of other short cuts like State
101 that might help, depending on where you want to go in AJ. 260 is like
the long side of the triangle but much more curvery and turney plus slower
than the interstates.

Not a Geocaching question but readers of this list might be able to help me.
This will be my first direct drive from St Louis to Apache Junction. I'm
fine with the drive until just after Gallup, NM where AAA says take Rt 60 at
Show Low to Globe and then on the AJ. Mapquest and such say take I-40 to
Holbrook then 377 to 260 and then Rt 87 to eventually Rt 60 and then AJ. I
have to keep in mind that we will be starting this drive that day from
Amarillo, TX so by the time we get to AZ it will be late and we'll be tired.

What Y'all think?
