Well, you can't really have DSL to have VoIP service like Vonage. That's
kind of a conflict in terms, since you need landline phone service to
piggyback DSL onto.

My VoIP carrier is Lingo. Also good. There are several good VoIP carriers.
As Brian said, you do have to have broadband Internet -- cable, DSL, etc.
Another nice thing about VoIP is that it simply doesn't care where you plug
into the Internet, as long as it has a broadband connection. If you go on
vacation to see your cousin in Alabama, and she has broadband, just plug
into her router and your phone rings there. It works fine for me when I go
to England as well, as my hotel has broadband in the rooms. Oh, and if you
want, you can get a number in most cities in the US. Want to pretend to
have a New York office? No problem. As far as services, I think they are
better. My voice mail is digital, and they email it to me, so I can
retrieve it from anywhere I have an Internet connection.

If you have a cable modem, Vonage is a good one to look into. VoIP phone
service that is far cheaper, and offers the same features as Qworst without
the extra charges for those services.

OK, I'm fed up with QWest and all their screw-ups with my bill. Anyone out
there have home phone service thru another company and they are satisfied
with? Cox is not available in my area yet :-(
